The Little Gifts : 2016
In 2016, the Quality of Life Committee awarded 11 gifts to the following organizations:
Alberta Bair Theater
Quality of Life recently made a donation to the Alberta Bair Theater to help with costs of a visual arts-integration model for dinosaurs based on Science/Technology/Engineering/Math (STEM) education. It’s part of Alberta Bair’s comprehensive dinosaur program, which includes a talk by Jack Horner. Accepting the check on behalf of Alberta Bair Theater are Dr. William Mouat and Jan Dietrich.
Education Foundation for Billings Public Schools
A donation was made to the Education Foundation in support of its Reading Rocks Summer Reading Program’s expansion to Orchard Elementary. Reading Rocks is designed to reverse low-income students’ loss of reading achievement in the summer by offering reading activities in conjunction with Billings Public Schools Free Lunch program.
Yellowstone River Parks Association
Quality of Life is a proud supporter of the Yellowstone River Parks Association (YRPA) and its efforts to develop John H. Dover Memorial Park. Our donation, which was presented to Darryl Wilson, will be used in the development of the dog park at Dover.
Junior League of Billings
Junior League of Billings received a Quality of Life donation in support of its Laundry Days, which is a new program that provides free laundry services to low income families. Jennifer Webber accepted the donation on behalf of Junior League.
The Center for Children and Families
Quality of Life recently made a donation to The Center for Children and Families to help purchase beds and childcare supplies for children in the Second Chance Home program. Accepting the check on behalf of The Center for Children and Families are Stephanie Marquis and Amy Fladmo.
Community Leadership and Development, Inc.
Quality of Life recently made a donation to Community Leadership & Development, Inc. (CLDI) to help fund the Youth Works Program, which provides guidance and support for youth on Billings’ South Side. The check was presented to Kaylee Bradford and Eric Basye of CLDI.
Family Service received a donation from Quality of Life to help boost its Rent and Utility Assistance Program. The organization serves clients who fall into the low to very-low income levels of federal poverty guidelines. Jami Funyak accepted the donation on behalf of Family Service.
PEAKS (People Everywhere are Kind and Sharing)
PEAKS (People Everywhere are Kind and Sharing) received a donation to help with the purchase of gas and grocery cards, as well as utility bill and rent payments for patients being treated for cancer. Darlene Chamberlain accepted the donation on behalf of PEAKS.
Yellowstone AIDS Project
Quality of Life recently made a donation to the Yellowstone AIDS Project to support its clients who need transportation to appointments, and support with medical costs, utilities and food. The donation was presented to Autumn Frey of Yellowstone AIDS Project.
Young Families Early Head Start
Quality of Life is pleased to support Young Families Early Head Start. Our donation to the organization will help provide mental health services promoting parent/child mental health issues and parent education. Sheri Boelter accepted the donation on behalf of Young Families.
DeAnn lost her home and all her belongings in a house fire in the summer of 2016. A donation was made to help her find temporary housing and to purchase necessities.
